Getting Crafty: Mummy Lights

I saw this pin a while ago, and was sad to see that the link led to nowhere.  It didn't look too complicated, so I winged it.

My version of the mummy light

There were a bunch of recycled jars still on my mantle that were JD's party centerpieces, so this project is extra green.  I started by putting a candle in each with a little sand.

I found the colored eyes at Target, where I also picked up the streamers.

After I got both boys napping, I tore my desk apart looking for Mod Podge with no luck.  So I made my own.

DYI mod podge: equal parts Elmer's & water
I covered a jar with the stuff.

Then I wrapped it with a single layer of streamer.

When that dried a bit, I used regular glue to put the eyes on.

Then I tore some streamers (to get nice, uneven edges) and added some texture around the "face".

Isn't he a cute little guy?  He used to be a baby food jar.

And this?  Just me catching my kid not napping.

The whole gang.

I can't wait to use them to decorate for O's party.
